What is BOOKSLOUNGE and how does it work?

Books Lounge is chennai's physical lending library. We bring a wide variety of books, from all over the world. Our goal is to make reading quality books affordable and convenient. We strive really hard to satisfy our young readers by bringing what they deserve, the best books. We also have sale of books.


Where is BooksLounge located?

Books Lounge operates from Perumbakkam (between Medavakkam and Sholiganallur). Currenlty our library is at our physical location only.


Who are the people behind Books Lounge?

Pavitra,Sangeetha,Ramya, perfect homemakers and well educated, who know the pulse of the kids and avid readers. started Books Lounge. All three are very much interested in the early childhood education.


How do I become a member?

People can walk in to have a feel of the environment and our widest collection of books. Once satisfied, you can choose from the membership plan and become a member right away.


What are the pricing plans?

We have individual scheme and twin scheme and we offer three different membership plans for Beginners,Good Readers and BookWorms.We have a quartely,half-yearly and annual pricing models. For more details kindly refer membership plan in our website else please feel free to contact our BookLounge staff .


How to search for a Book?

Online:You can search for a book in our website using simple search with its Title/Author/ISBN by simply typing in the search bar on the website. You can also search the books based on Category or by Age group.


How to check Availability of a book?
  • Step 1: Search the title, for which you want to check availability
  • Step 2: Click on the title of the book.A pop-up window will display the availability of the book.

How do I renew membership?

You need to come in person to BooksLounge and renew your membership.


Can I refer a friend?

We believe every member is a brand ambassador of BooksLounge and we have refer a friend scheme. Visit our website, sign-up and you refer your friends in refer-a-friend link. Your friend will get an invitation mail from BooksLounge. You will get surprise gifts, if your friend enroll himself as member.


How do I view the books borrowed by me?

Our website has been designed as easy to navigate, easy to locate and to give as much information to our members. In order to know the books and magazines borrowed by any member, sign-up and click My Accounts link. My Acconts will show your membership details and the books / magazines borrowed by you.


What if I want to extend the books?

Just email us (contactus@bookslounge.com) or call us (65654565) and we will extend the items that you currently hold.


How to rent a magazine?

BooksLounge has good collection of magazines and member has to subscribe separately by paying Rs. 100 per quarter for renting a magazíne. Member can také one magazíne at a time. Renting multiple magazines at single instance is not allowed. Unfortunately, we are not showing magazine catalog in our website. Member has to walk-in to rent a magazíne.


Will I get any alert from BooksLounge?

BooksLounge understands that every member is busy with their normal daily routines and BooksLounge feels that sending an alert will help the member to get Connect with BooksLounge. BooksLounge will alert the members on various occassions like

  • Membership validity expiry
  • Kids Workshops
  • New arrivals
  • When member exceeds the holding period of a book

What do I do if I lost my membership card?

You will need to visit BooksLounge and place a request for a new membership card after paying Rs.20 towards the lost card and for receiving a new membership card.Your membership id will remain the same.


What if I receive a damaged book?

Every book in BookLounge is laminated to keep the book as new as possible and to bring feel-good factor while reading a book. We do our best to check each book for damages before renting it out. But if you do receive a damaged book, please let us know immediately by calling us at 65654565. We request you to intimate us as soon as possible, this will help us to resolve the issue and provide you with new books if stock available.


How do I get informed about the events or workshops?

BooksLounge is more than a library and wanted to set a platform for various kids related workshops to promote and nurture extra curricular activities. We are in good Connect with various workshop organizers and freelance anchors and we plan to conduct workshops at regular intervals. BooksLounge will intimate to all members either through alert or display of forthcoming workshops in our website. You can register with us incase any prior information about the events are happening in BooksLounge.


What if I wish to lend a book that is not there in the library?

Please let us know your wish list we will arrange for the book at the earliest and intimate you about the same.


Where do I ask a question not answered here?

Please contact the library in the phone number mentioned in contact us link or send us mail .We will be happy to help you.


What if I lose or damage the books?

You can call our Admindesk or send an email about the lost or damaged books. If you have a genuine reason, then we can sort it out without fine for first time depending on the condition of the book. For lost/damaged items from the second time, we will bill you at actual cost of books for lost and used price for damage.


Please be considerate as other members may like to rent and read the same books.


I’m going on vacation. Can I put my BooksLounge account on hold?

Of course you can. At any time and for any reason, you can choose to put your account on hold. Call our helpdesk or send us email via contact us form. During that time, you won’t be charged but you can still log in to your account and browse the books.

To reactivate your account call our helpdesk or send us email via contact us form (no charge to reactivate your account).

Please be considerate to return the books if you are going on long vacation.


Can I buy the books I rent?

You can place the order with us (in case if the same books is not available for sale in BooksLounge) and we will get it for you.
